Who We Are
Leading Hispanics in STEM
Changing Lives. Empowering Communities. Impacting the World.
- In December of 2014, SHPE KC began as an employee resource group at Burns & McDonnell, led Gabriel Hernandez and Daniel Sierra.
- In November of 2015, SHPE KC partnered with SHPE to host a successful SHPE National Conference. In 2017, the chapter was formally introduced to the local engineering community as the SHPE Kansas City Chapter.
- On September 20, 2017, the SHPE Kansas City Chapter was granted with 501(c)3 non-profit status.
As the Kansas City professional chapter, we support Hispanic professionals and STEM students on both sides of the state line through scholarship and networking opportunities. We are committed to being your resource for mentorship and professional training to help you reach your fullest potential.
“This is what we dreamed of: an organization with a clear mission and a national presence. We always knew it had this kind of potential. To see it take off the way it has-it’s really special.”
